Manak founded and oversees the company with a highly hands-on approach to its properties, operations and guest experience. He attributes much of the company’s success to exacting standards and close attention to every aspect of the stay, from design and amenities to cleanliness, presentation and guest service.

As part of a broader founder update, Calgary Short-Term Stays is also noting a recent determination involving Manak’s former employer, Coast Capital Auto & Equipment Finance Ltd. The matter is entirely separate from Calgary Short-Term Stays and its operations.

On September 18, 2026, British Columbia’s Director of Employment Standards issued Determination ES-2024-004516, finding that Coast Capital Auto & Equipment Finance Ltd. contravened four provisions of the Employment Standards Act.

The determination found that the company:

• failed to pay wages within the required statutory deadline under section 17;

• failed to pay all outstanding final wages within the required period under section 18;

• failed to maintain required records of Manak’s hours of work under section 28; and

• failed to properly pay overtime wages under section 40.

The written decision records that Coast Capital Auto & Equipment Finance Ltd. acknowledged that it had not kept records of Manak’s hours of work and therefore could not provide those records to the investigating officer.

The Director also found that the company failed to properly pay Manak overtime wages across multiple pay periods.

Coast Capital Auto & Equipment Finance Ltd. was ordered to pay $6,559.38 in wages and interest. Four separate administrative penalties of $500 were also imposed, bringing the total order to $8,559.38.

The Director further ordered Coast Capital Auto & Equipment Finance Ltd. to cease contravening the identified provisions and comply with the requirements of the Employment Standards Act and Regulation.

The Employment Standards findings relate solely to Manak’s former employment and are unrelated to the operations of Calgary Short-Term Stays.

Additional information about the determination can be found on this website and in the company’s founder update at CalgaryShortTermStays.com.
